Introduce it, then give the steps in order 🔢

Four basic facts: the project’s name, its location, why it’s important, and how long it took. Then start each step with a sequence word.

How it is done · how it was done ✍

Imperative = base verb + noun phrase, no subject (negative: don’t) · Simple past = subject + past verb + noun phrase.
Hướng dẫn chung → câu mệnh lệnh (không chủ ngữ). Việc đã xong ở một công trình cụ thể → quá khứ đơn, phải có chủ ngữ.
General instruction → imperative
A specific past project → simple past
Decide on the materials.
The engineers decided on the materials.
Dig a hole.
The workers dug a hole.
Don’t use cheap materials.
They didn’t use cheap materials.
📝 Grammar note
The base form is the verb without to: to go → go. Speakers use imperatives to give instructions, orders or suggestions.
⚠ Do not use an imperative when you describe a past process. “Decide on the materials” ≠ “The engineers decided on the materials.”
